As dentistry moves in the digital world, one has to wonder if this is practical and worthy to incorporate the new technology into your own practice. Where and how does it truly improve the workflow, and does it make financial and logistical sense?
This presentation will demonstrate how a surgical specialist with an interdisciplinary practice and a full digital laboratory uses the new technology to the benefit of the payments and to the practice bottomline.
The presenter is an expert clinician who was trained in the analog world but currently immersed in a comprehensive digital environment with contemporary digital gadgets and “toys.”
The presentation will cover: use of 3D CBCT use of 3D facial scans and intraoral scans use of CAD-CAM software such as ExoCad and Implant Studio How all these technology come together in a busy practice

Background
Dr. Jin Y. Kim is a 1986 graduate of dental school at University of Sydney, Australia He received specialty training in periodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry in 1998. Jin is board-certified by the American Board of Periodontology, and the American Board of Oral Implantology, making him a unique and rare dual board-certified specialist. Jin has advanced degrees in pathology, public health, and oral biology, and had been in general practice and academia for 9 years prior to starting his career in periodontology.
Apart from specialty private practices in Diamond Bar, and West Garden Grove, California, Dr. Kim is currently engaged in teaching of dental students, residents and fellow dental professionals, as a lecturer at UCLA School of Dentistry and as a sought-out international speaker. He has spoken at national and international academic and clinical podiums including the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), Academy of Osseointegration (AO), American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), European Federation of Periodontology (EuroPerio), International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD), California Society of Periodontists (CSP), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Korean Academy of Maxilofacial Implants, Columbia Society of Periodontology, and at a number of universities including New York University, USC, UCSF, Loma Linda University, University of Miami, Seoul National University, Wonkwang University, Chosun University, Chung San University, University of Sydney, University of Hong Kong, and of course, UCLA. Dr. Kim’s international lecture appearances span over 25 countries worldwide.
Dr. Kim has been a consultant to numerous dental implant and device manufacturers. His research has been published in respected scientific journals such as Journal of Periodontology, Annals of Periodontology, Dental Implantology Update, Journal of Dental Research, Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and in several dental textbooks. He has translated a popular implant textbook into Korean language, and has contributed to a book chapter in a textbook. He is currently a lecturer at UCLA School of Dentistry, and has served as a past president of Western Society of Periodontology (WSP). He is the founder of West Coast Dental Implant Study Club, and is co-director of Global Dental Implant Academy (GDIA). He continuously serves on various capacities in ICOI, and AAID.
